The Joint Replacement Center
Providing the latest joint replacement techniques for shorter hospital stays and faster recovery.
At The Joint Replacement Center at Memorial, we use a team approach to obtain excellent outcomes for our joint replacement patients. Our team includes specially trained orthopedic surgeons, orthopedic nurses, rehabilitation specialists, and social services. The multidisciplinary team will care for you throughout your joint replacement process.
As part of the rehabilitation process you and your family need to attend the preoperative education session. These sessions provide valuable information to educate you and your family about expectations of the joint replacement process. You will have an opportunity to meet some of the healthcare providers who will provide care to you after surgery.
Our Facilities
Our up-to-date orthopedic unit has a dedicated physical therapy area for individual and group therapy. In addition, Memorial Care Center has full rehabilitative services upon discharge from the hospital should you require extended therapy, and Memorial Home Health Services are also available to you, if needed, when you return to your home.
Pain Management
Joint replacement is a proven remedy for many kinds of joint dysfunction, but patients are often concerned about post-operative pain management. The highly skilled surgeons along with Anesthesia Associates of Belleville use what is know as a multi-modal and pre-emptive pain management regimen. This specific pain management regimen has greatly reduced post-operative pain and increased early mobility for excellent outcomes.
Outstanding Results
More than 500 patients choose Memorial annually for joint replacement surgery. Since implementation of the multi-modal pain management regimen, patients surveyed by Press-Ganey rate pain management above the 90th percentile in comparison to their peer groups. Other areas ranking in the 90th percentile are the overall experience, communication with nurses, and communication with physicians.
Memorial Care Center
Memorial Care Center offers both physical therapy and occupational therapy services for total joint replacement patients. The goal is for you to have a safe transition back to the community. Our therapists are dedicated to helping you reach your highest level of function, ensuring you have enough time to regain your strength and meet goals before you are discharged.
Aquatic Therapy for Total Joint Replacement
Aquatic therapy uses the hydrostatic pressure of water to reduce swelling and buoyancy while providing a safer and more comfortable environment as you recover from total joint replacement surgery. Memorial Hospital offers the latest in aquatic therapy with a heated pool and underwater treadmill to help patients recover more quickly and return to their previous level of functionality.
